Critical Thinking

Developing critical thinking skills in students is essential for making clear, well-reasoned, and empathetic judgments.The module aims to enhance students' ability to effectively analyse information, distinguishing facts from propaganda, and balancing diverse perspectives.

Leadership

Leadership is designed to help students understand the role of social leaders in facilitating social change.

Creativity

Creativity and self-expression are a core responsibility of progressive education, emphasized at Sevenoaks School. This module encourages students to think about what is meant by ‘creativity’ and delves into its various forms including creative writing, drama, theatrical technology and film.

Digital skills module

Digital skills module involves coding, design and robotics while equipping students with the skills they need to develop as independent learners in an ever-changing world.

Apgyvendinimas

Sevenoaks School has eight boarding houses, all with first-class facilities and each with its own characteristics. Older students are generally placed in single and double bedrooms while younger students usually stay in larger dormitories with several beds.

Airport Transfers

For Session One we ask students to please arrive between 9:00 and 16:00 UK time on 3 July, and depart between 07:00 and 12:00 UK time on 17 July. Session Two student arrivals take place between 12:00 and 17:00 UK time, and we ask students to please depart between 09:00 and 17:00 UK time.

Music Programme

The Music Programme combines practical and academic musicianship to give students a taste of life as a musician at Sevenoaks School. Designed and delivered by Sevenoaks School’s teachers, the course provides a comprehensive introduction to the skills and techniques sought after in UK music scholars.

PERFORMANCE

Performing is an integral part of the programme, with solo and ensemble opportunities fostered by masterclasses, daily concerts and an end of course performance. We ask that students be of ABRSM Grade 5 standard or equivalent in at least one instrument.

HISTORY AND ANALYSIS

Students have the opportunity to deconstruct the main periods of Western Classical music, identifying key features and applying this knowledge to a four-lesson structural analysis module. This area of the course is underpinned by daily talks on 21st century musicianship.

COMPOSITION

Our daily composition sessions give students the opportunity to refine their musicological knowledge into creative pieces. Students may choose from a selection of areas of interest, which include traditional compositional techniques and contemporary music technology.

The English Language program

Programe carefully designed by Sevenoaks School’s teachers to be immersive and focused. Students leave with an enhanced level of spoken and academic English, while learning in a dynamic and collaborative way.

General English

This aspect of the course is designed to improve skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, and to deepen understanding of grammar. Students are immersed in the English language in order to improve accuracy in speaking and writing, and to develop their confidence and knowledge of English vocabulary in order to use it in everyday circumstances.

Academic English

The second aspect of the course is aimed at students with specific academic goals. Whether it is entry to a UK boarding school, formal English exams or preparation for the workplace, this module uses carefully structured lessons on formal use of the English language.
