The immersive High School Intensives and Workshops provide hands-on artistic experiences tailored to all levels of ability. These programs challenge students to:

/ Songwriting Intensive

The Idyllwild Arts Songwriting Intensive is a two-week program designed for aspiring songwriters aged 13 to 17, offering daily vocal and writing warm-ups, presentations on songwriting techniques, and breakout sessions with expert mentors. Participants focus on musicianship, lyrics, melody, chording, live performance, vocals, music production, and other special topics.

/ Acting for the Camera Intensive

The Acting for the Camera Intensive at Idyllwild Arts is a two-week program that immerses participants in the art of film acting. Integrated with the Filmmaking Intensive, students collaborate on short film projects, gaining hands-on experience in character development, on-camera performance, and understanding the film production process.

/ Musical Theatre Intensive

The program focusing on developing skills in acting, singing, and dancing. Participants engage in daily classes covering various aspects of musical theatre, including voice training, dance techniques, and character development. The program culminates in a final performance, allowing students to showcase their talents.

/ Filmmaking Intensive: Short Films from Script to Screen

The Filmmaking Intensive: Short Films from Script to Screen at Idyllwild Arts is a two-week program that immerses participants in the complete filmmaking process. Utilizing industry-standard equipment and software, students collaborate with experienced faculty and acting students to create short films.

/ Drawing & Painting Intensive

The Drawing & Painting Intensive at Idyllwild Arts is a two-week program designed to enhance artistic skills through project-driven learning. Participants engage in observational drawing to explore line, contour, negative space, volume, light, and composition, utilizing a variety of media. The curriculum includes oil painting sessions focused on color theory and composition from life.

/ Dance Intensive

The Dance Intensive at Idyllwild Arts is a comprehensive summer program designed to develop well-rounded dancers. Participants engage in daily classes covering Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Musical Theatre Dance, and Choreography.

/ Computer Game Design

The Computer Game Design program at Idyllwild Arts is a two-week immersive bootcamp that introduces participants to game creation using the Unity platform. The curriculum covers game design fundamentals, coding in C#, level design, and character creation. Guided by experienced instructors, students progress from concept development to producing a playable game prototype.

/ Ceramics: Clay Works Intensive

Ceramics: Clay Works Intensive at Idyllwild Arts is a two-week program that immerses participants in both handbuilding and wheel-throwing techniques. The first week focuses on constructing sculptures and functional pieces, such as cups, bowls, and teapots, using various methods. The second week delves into glazing and firing, allowing students to experiment with midrange electric techniques for surface decoration.
